You can now choose a new carbon offset option as your gift with every three donations. This means, instead of receiving physical merch, we’ll put your gift towards offsetting the carbon footprint that occurs as part of processing and transporting three donations.

What is Lifeblood Gifts?

Lifeblood Gifts is a rewards program for people who donate blood, plasma or platelets with Lifeblood.

How many donations do I need to give to get a gift?

You can redeem a gift every three donations. It can be any type of donation (blood, plasma or platelets) in any combination, and there’s no limit to how many gifts you can get. The more you give, the more you get.

How do I redeem a gift?

Simply collect a gift at every third donation. We’ll let you know when you check in at your donor centre if you’re due for a gift.

What if my donor centre doesn’t have the gift I want?

Sometimes our gifts run out fast! You can always choose to Carbon Offset your donations as your gift to the environment or pick another gift to give to a friend.

How can I check if I’ve joined Lifeblood Gifts?

Online: Log in to your donor account, go to the ‘Manage preferences’ tab and check that under ‘Lifeblood Gifts opt-in’ it’s set to ‘Yes’.

On the Lifeblood app: Click on the ‘Lifeblood Gifts’ icon (the present), then make sure the toggle is switched to ‘On’.

Why do you give donors something for donating?

Yes, our donors give to help others…but everyone likes a ‘thank you’. These gifts are a small token from Lifeblood to show our donors how much we appreciate all they do.

Plus, donors who’ve joined Lifeblood Gifts donate more often. So, it’s a win for everyone: donors, Lifeblood and patients.

I’ve collected one of everything. When will you do new gifts?

That’s bloody impressive. For something new, watch your emails and our social media to discover when limited-edition gifts are coming. We’ll also continue to refresh and add to our core set of gifts to keep things fresh for dedicated donors like you.

I donate breast milk/microbiota. Can I join Lifeblood Gifts?

At the moment, Lifeblood Gifts is only for blood, plasma and platelet donors, but we have other ways of rewarding our amazing milk and microbiota donors. Thank you for giving life — however you can.

Carbon offset FAQs

How do I choose the carbon offset option as a gift?

Like you do with our current gifts, you can choose the carbon offset option with every three donations. This means, instead of receiving a physical gift, we’ll put your reward towards offsetting the carbon footprint that occurs as part of processing and transporting three donations.

What is carbon offsetting?

Carbon offsetting is a way for Lifeblood to compensate for carbon emissions that we can’t eliminate. We do this by investing in projects that reduce or remove emissions.

Which carbon offset programs will my gift support?

Your contribution will be used to purchase carbon credits from projects that fit within the Climate Active program guidelines.

What is Climate Active?

Climate Active is an Australian government-backed program that helps Australian businesses drive voluntary climate action. It’s also a certification awarded to businesses that have achieved a state of carbon neutrality.

We work with them to invest in projects across Australia and around the world that reduce or remove carbon from the atmosphere to offset the emissions that we can’t eliminate. Many of these projects also have additional environmental and social benefits. Visit their website here for more information.

Is Lifeblood certified carbon neutral?

Yes! Lifeblood has met the requirements of the Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standard of Service and has been certified as carbon neutral for donation management services in 2024-25.

What does carbon neutral mean?

Carbon neutral means taking action to reduce and remove as much carbon from the atmosphere as we put into it.

How did Lifeblood become carbon neutral?

We’re continuing to reduce emissions in our operations where possible, such as through energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, and investing in projects that reduce or remove emissions from the atmosphere.
