Research collaborators

Nurturing strategic collaborations with researchers aligned with our own research priorities is critical for our success.

By combining our specialist skills with clinical practitioners or by accessing high-cost, cutting-edge infrastructure and expertise outside our field, we can multiply our impact.

We participate in many collaborations that gain competitive grant funding and deliver important results. If you'd like to work with us, please reach out via email with an outline of your proposal and we'll be in touch.

Our research themes

Population health, donor research and cellular therapies

This multidisciplinary team has a broad mix of skill sets including psychology, sociology, public health, epidemiology, clinical research, nursing, cellular biology and marketing.

Our donor research team applies both quantitative and qualitative methods to examine what motivates or hinders our diverse donor panel. Our cellular therapies team addresses patient care needs by growing red blood cells from stem cells and developing starting materials for immunotherapies. Meanwhile, our population health researchers study blood samples to assess disease impacts on Australian communities, expanding our influence beyond transfusion services.

Product development and transfusion studies

This team is looking for new ways to advance blood product quality and safety, and developing new blood products for better patient outcomes. They apply state-of-the-art technology spanning the full bench to bedside process, improving the lives of patients receiving a blood transfusion or biotherapeutic treatment.

Strategy, communication and molecular development

This team is using cutting-edge molecular and data science to improve donor and patient outcomes, and helping researchers across Lifeblood with bioinformatics support. Our team also shapes Lifeblood's research strategy and communicates both internally and externally to maximise impact across the organisation and beyond.
