We are removing sexual activity wait times for plasma donation. From 14 July, more people, including gay and bisexual men, and anyone who takes PrEP, will be able to book to donate plasma without a wait period, provided they meet other eligibility criteria.
Plus, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has approved our submission to remove gender-based sexual activity rules for people who donate blood or platelets. Once implemented, all donors will be asked the same questions, regardless of gender or sexuality, and some current sexual activity deferrals for donating blood or platelets would be changed.
