In the moments that matter most, your voice could mean everything.
Giving and receiving blood can feel clinical. But there are real people behind it. Real people like you. And we wanted to give that a voice.
From 20 April – 31 May, selected donor centres and hospitals across Australia are taking part in this pilot program for anonymous donors and recipients to hear and share voice messages.
Building a community through this connection, we want to highlight the real impact of blood donation on people’s lives every single day.
Thank you for being part of this movement and if you have any feedback, please let us know at bloodline@redcrossblood.org.au
'Hi there, my name is Helen and I've just finished up donation number 12 at my local donor centre. I'm relaxing now with my favourite peppermint tea and wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you, wherever you are. I'm sending you lots of strength and hope for the days ahead.'
'James here, just sharing my story for why I started donating plasma back in 2021. A family friend was going through a rough time and was diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder. I felt really helpless at the time, and didn't really know what to say or what to do to help. Donating plasma became an easy way for me to give back to others, and now I'm here every few weeks doing what I can.'
'Hey, it's Brooke here calling in from Queensland. I wanted to share my favourite feel good movie that you might enjoy while you're going through your treatment. It's called Little Miss Sunshine and no matter how many times I watch it, I still laugh and cry at the same bits! Really it's about showing up for people, and I suppose that's why I donate blood too. All the best.'
