Becky drives national efforts to establish clinical grade workflows with cellular immunotherapy partners, and advance stem cell–derived red cell therapeutics for patients who require a better matched transfusion product such as those with rare blood groups and neonates.
Becky’s research expertise lies in stem cell biology and cell differentiation, particularly human haematopoietic stem cells, erythropoiesis, red cell biology and transfusion medicine.
Becky has a PhD in Biochemistry from Bristol University, UK and was previously part of the NIHR Blood and Transplant research team in the UK, helping develop the first human clinical trial of cultured red blood cells for transfusion.
