April puts her knowledge to good use in the Product Development and Storage research team. Her research examines how frequent donation effects platelet donor health, explores the removal of HLA antigens from platelets, and investigates the interaction of platelets with cancer cells.
She completed her PhD at the University of Sydney through the Westmead Institute for Medical Research in the areas of infectious disease, proteomics and molecular biology by examining the cellular transport of herpes simplex virus type 1.
