Use of Cryodepleted Plasma

Indications

Cryodepleted plasma is used as an alternative to fresh frozen plasma (FFP) for plasma exchange in patients with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).

 

Modifications

None.  

 

Dosage

Volume depends on local plasma exchange protocols and the patient’s weight with a 10–15 mL/kg dose usually recommended.

Cryodepleted plasma should be ABO compatible with the recipient's red cells. Matching for RhD type is not required.
