What is the program about?

We’re dedicated to making the most of the generous gifts blood donors give to meet the ever-increasing health needs of all Australians.

That’s why we do our best to collect the right amount of blood to meet the community’s clinical needs. As part of the process, some products are deemed unsuitable to transfuse to a patient or turn into plasma products. The reasons for these products not meeting specification can be varied, and as a result the contents of the bag will also vary compared to a clinical grade unit.

How do I access these products?

How long is the duration of the agreement?

Agreements last 2 years

How long does the application process take?

It usually takes at least 4 weeks for us to approve and accept an application.

Does the material undergo viral testing?

Tested material supplied under this program have screened negative for HBV, HIV-1/2 and HCV.

Is there a limit on the amount of material that can be ordered?

Yes, during the application process we will work with you to determine supply quantities, however orders are always subject to availability at the time of ordering.

Does Lifeblood also offer delivery when an order is placed?

No, you’ll need to organise collection or delivery yourself.
